Novapet is proud to being a signatory of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy Global Commitment.
The foundation was launched in 2010 with the aim of accelerating the transition to the circular economy. To know more about the Foundation, click here.
The Global Commitment is led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme, and is signed by 400+ organisations around the world.
At the heart of the Global Commitment there is a main idea of a circular economy for plastic, in which it never becomes waste, it is always seen as a resource. It offers a solution to plastic pollution with profound economic, environmental, and societal benefits.
Each signatory company:
- Will work to eliminate the plastic items not needed.
- Will innovate in design, so all plastic we do need will be designed to be safely reused, recycled or composted.
- Will bet on circularity with the premise that everything we use or consume must be able to be returned to the economy and must always stay out of the environment.
These three actions are key for us, due to Novapet, as a PET producer company, meets more than satisfactorily the proposed requirements, since PET is a 100% recyclable plastic, which is originally designed to favour the circular economy. Therefore, all our packaging meet the requirements 100% required.
In addition, at Novapet we are working to introduce increasing percentages of post-consumer recycled PET for the creation of new packaging.
Signatories include companies representing 20% of all plastic producers packaging companies globally, as well as governments, NGOs, universities, industry associations, investors, and other organisations.
